The course introduces number of essential quantitative concepts and tools, to provide a foundation for the specialization courses in finance and to prepare students to use quantitative data analysis tools in their career. The topics covered include basic statistical and probability concepts, hypothesis testing, multiple regression, timeseries analysis, probit/logit models and Monte Carlo model for simulation. The course also teaches students how to implement these methods using statistical software like Gretl. Course Objectives The objective of this course is to reinforce and extend students’ knowledge of quantitative data analysis techniques. The course introduces various techniques from classical statistical analysis and time series analysis, focusing especially on financial econometrics. As part of the course, students have to apply these quantitative methods to address practical problems and research questions in the field, using actual financial data, and present the results in class
