Location: Remote (Chiang Mai Thailand preferred) Duration: Short-term setup project, with possible ongoing work Category: Web & IT / Programming / Software Development Project Overview We are a small, self-funded education team building a lean online learning platform. Instead of using expensive enterprise software, we plan to self-host an open-source EdTech framework from GitHub, starting with the Gooru Navigator ecosystem. We are looking for a practical freelance Backend Developer / DevOps Engineer to help us complete the first milestone: setting up a basic proof-of-concept environment. Milestone 1 Responsibilities Pull and deploy open-source repositories from GitHub Configure backend services on a low-cost cloud server (DigitalOcean, AWS, Google Cloud, or similar) Set up Docker containers and confirm core services can communicate Configure the database environment (PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL) Troubleshoot basic deployment, API, and environment issues Provide brief setup notes so the environment can be maintained Technical Requirements Experience with Docker and cloud server deployment Familiarity with Go/Golang and/or Java Ability to work with existing open-source code Comfortable troubleshooting backend and environment setup issues Good written English Practical, resourceful, and cost-conscious approach Opportunity This is a small milestone-based project to get our first testing environment live. If the setup goes well, we hope to continue working together on updates, customization, maintenance, and scaling. We are also exploring future operations in Chiang Mai, so a Thailand-based developer is strongly preferred.
